Secret Swap & Share

I think its important for designers to think about how they can use their work to address significant social problems and issues. This app was designed as part of a university course on social interaction design. The brief was to create an app for a social minority providing an interactive media experience.

Secret: Swap + Share is a secure messaging app for women in domestic violence situations that hides behind another app and can be quickly swapped out to make it look like the user is just playing a game or shopping online. The app itself can help users plan, seek legal advice, learn about abuse signs and behaviours, and get advice from professionals and those who have escaped domestic violence situations. In the chat groups, users can upvote good advice and downvote bad advice so they can help solve problems collectively. Visually, the app uses calming colours, big buttons and limited features to make the experience simple and stress free.
